Citizens who visit it will be able to obtain sustainable and social prizes, such as making food donations to families in need, by recycling their cans and plastic beverage bottles in the two machines that are installed in this center.

To promote the rational and responsible consumption of this type of packaging, RECICLOS establishes a weekly limit of points that citizens receive when recycling.

The mall Portal de la Marina, owned by Lar España Real Estate Socimi and managed by Grupo Lar through Gentalia, installs two RECYCLING machines, the Ecoembes Refund and Reward System (SDR), which reward the commitment to recycling cans and plastic bottles of beverages . With the implementation of this SDR, this shopping center takes a further step in its commitment to the circular economy and with a positive impact on the environment through recycling.

With RECYCLES, the 4 million customers who visit the commercial each year will be able to continue recycling the cans and plastic bottles of beverages they consume outside of their homes, facilitating the circularity of this waste, that is, they can be converted back into new packaging or products. after recycling. By making use of these machines, users will receive points with which they can help improve their environment through sustainable or social incentives. For example, they will be able to give the RECYCLING points they obtain by recycling to food donation projects for vulnerable families or those in need.

In addition, RECICLOS wants to contribute to promoting responsible and rational consumption of this type of packaging. For this reason, it establishes a weekly limit to the cans and plastic bottles of drinks for which citizens obtain points when recycling.

“We work to be a shopping center that respects the environment and, in addition to a commercial mix, our goal is to offer all kinds of services so that the experience of our clients is even more complete, so thanks to this initiative we are able to contribute to the environment and also do it in a more attractive way thanks to the raffles and advantages that the client gets by recycling their cans and bottles with us ”, stated Virginia Carrasco, director of the Portal de la Marina shopping center.

“With the implementation of RECYCLES in this shopping center we are linking recycling to our leisure time. In addition, we achieve that through the simple gesture of recycling, the people of Alicante can help those who need it most. In this way, recycling and solidarity go hand in hand as we make progress in the circular economy ”, said Xavier Balagué, manager of Ecoembes in the Valencian Community.

This Alicante shopping center joins Zenia Boulevard, also located in this province, in incorporating machines that reward for recycling. In addition, RECICLOS is present in other parts of the Valencian Community, such as municipal markets and sports centers in the city of Valencia, the Baleària maritime stations in Valencia and Denia or the City of Arts and Sciences, where there are already machines of this SDR . In addition, the yellow containers in the city of Valencia also have RECYCLES technology, and more and more inhabitants of this region can contribute to taking care of their closest environment and their own neighbors through this pioneering system of recycling.

This is how recycling with a RECICLOS reward works

To make use of the RECYCLING machines, Alicante residents only have to register on the webapp (app.reciclos.com), deposit all their cans and plastic bottles of drinks in a RECYCLING machine and scan the QR that the machine will display.

By doing so, they will earn points, called RECYCLES, which they can exchange for the different rewards available, such as, in the case of the Portal de la Marina shopping center, delivering them to food donation projects for vulnerable people. These points will have a weekly limit so that citizens not only recycle more and better their packaging, but also consume responsibly.
