Last Monday, December 20, the professional Valencian pilot player Pere Ribes García, a native of Pedreguer, signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement with the Pedreguer City Council. The agreement establishes that the council will once again contribute to the athlete's activity with an economic contribution during the 2022/23 season in exchange for Ribes showing off the institution's corporate image on his kit.
The mayor of the municipality, Sergi Ferrús, has announced that with this initiative it is intended to continue "contributing to the promotion of the Valencian pilota, a Valencian national sport, in its professional aspect" and, by extension, "to continue supporting the athletes of the municipality, so that they can achieve the development of their objectives and that this fact has a positive impact on the whole of our people.
On the other hand, Ferrús has wanted to emphasize the importance of the fact that the institutions encourage the practice of sport and particularly of the pilot. At the event, Pepe Cabrera, Sport Councilor of the municipality, stated on the pilot: "It is a genuinely Valencian sport, for the continuity of which it is vital to guarantee not only a correct training circuit but also a viable professionalization itinerary."
