Pego opens next Friday, October 7, the exhibition Species: The universe of flavor the Càtedra Carmencita d'Estudis del Sabor Gastronòmic of the Universitat d'Alacant. For this, the Museu d'Art Contemporani de la Casa de Cultura Pegolina will open its doors at 19:30 p.m. with the exhibition that will remain open to the public until the end of the year.

The exhibition arrives in the municipality with the intention of showing how culinary herbs and species have had great power in influencing world history, since in addition to providing character and personality to gastronomy, they have served as currency. , promoting the conquest of territories, provoking wars and transforming social habits.

The didactic and sensory route, sprinkled with natural plants and bouquets of herbs, is carried out through six explanatory tables and a video that teaches how to cook with spices in a simple, fast and economical way.

“This exhibition is one more point in the program dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the first voyage around the world carried out by Magellan and Elcano, which we want to celebrate throughout the month in Pego, to be able to explain to children and adults one of the most important events in the story of the human being who changed the world forever”, points out the Councilor for Culture, Laura Castellà.

Species: The universe of flavor has made itineraries at the MUA Museum of the University of Alicante, the Teulada-Moraira Auditorium, the CDT Marina Alta Tourism Center in Dénia, The Seu Universitària Ciutat d'Alacant, the Library and House of Culture of Guardamar del Segura, the Gómez Tortosa Cultural Center of Novelda, CEIP Port de Xàbia, Vila Museu, Fira Alacant Gastronòmica and the Clarisses Elx Cultural Center.

The exhibition, with free admission, has had the scientific advice of the CIBIO and the Torretes Biological Station and Botanical Garden of the University of Alicante.
