The Pego City Council has signed the renewal of the agreement it has with the University of Alicante (UA) to continue being a university classroom. This agreement includes the transfer of a space by the Pego council, while the UA undertakes to organize courses, seminars and activities typical of a university classroom, as well as initiatives of special interest to the town.
Since its inception in the last legislative period, the House of Culture, designated as a university classroom, has been the setting for various cultural activities such as conferences, lectures, exhibitions, talks and even concerts.
The mayor of Pego, Enrique Moll, highlights the importance of the agreement: "This agreement allows Pego to expand the range of cultural offerings, giving the possibility of holding events that would otherwise be much more difficult to organize in the town. In recent years, we have believed in this commitment to culture and we want to continue along this line."
The mayor also emphasises that the agreement includes the dissemination and promotion of cultural activities organised by the council through the UA. “We also have a lot to contribute from Pego; we have authors, artists and technicians who can offer and give sessions, conferences and present their high-level works. It is a way of giving them support and notoriety,” concludes Moll.
