Tourists are interested in Pego's Holy Week. This is confirmed by the data recorded from online searches made by users over the last 12 days. Of the nearly 3.000 users who consulted the Pego i Les Valls tourist information website, approximately 2.000 searched for information on the Holy Week program, with nearly 4.500 visits.
The second most frequently asked question is about the Cova del Rull in the Vall d'Ebo, with just over 1.100 users and approximately 3.200 queries. This interest in Holy Week was also confirmed during the celebration.
The events, especially the processions, were marked by a high number of visitors, both those with family ties to Pego and who have a second home in the municipality, as well as foreign visitors. "It's worth noting that Holy Week in Pego has always attracted many people from outside, mainly due to the solemnity and the great work carried out by the brotherhoods," notes Councilor for Tourism, Ricardo Sendra.
In addition to the interest in Holy Week, the data recorded on the website over the last 12 days reflects the change in how inquiries have been made. The internet has displaced other methods such as in-person contact and telephone contact. Smartphones are the primary tool for making inquiries, whether to access the Pego and Les Valls tourism website (accounting for over 85% of total registrations over the last 12 days) or to contact Tourism representatives via WhatsApp messages.
Regarding nationality, the majority of inquiries were made by foreigners (Dutch, German, and French), both online and in person. "At the council, we try to expand the range of tourist attractions to attract visitors who are respectful of the natural environment, our culture, and traditions. Examples of this include the hiking and cycling routes through our territory that allow us to explore our mountains; and the routes through the municipality's old town that allow us to learn about our history. We also can't forget the great natural setting of La Marjal, where you can discover the native flora and fauna, take healthy walks, and live in harmony with nature. And all of this is complemented by the charm of our residents and our cuisine, which can be sampled in any of the restaurants," notes Councilor for Tourism, Ricardo Sendra, who also expresses his gratitude for the work of the department's technicians, "when it comes to highlighting the qualities of our municipality when visitors make inquiries."
