The Pegolí Consistory has proposed to increase the efficiency of municipal urban cleaning. In just over a year, 110 litter bins have been installed throughout the town.
The initiative, coordinated by the Waste and Environment departments, has consisted of the urban disposal of containers with a capacity of 50 liters, made with recycled materials and with a total cost of 10.560 euros.
The first 50 bins were placed in August 2021. The next 30 bins arrived in November and the last 30 will be installed in the coming weeks. "Some of the existing ones have been replaced, since we seek to ensure that the litter bins are not uncovered, which is why a much more efficient mechanism has been chosen than the previous one," remarks the Councilor for Urban Waste, Ricardo Sendra.
"The objective is to have a cleaner town. We want to provide neighbors with access to resources so that they can dispose of waste anywhere in the municipality," say the councilors in charge. They also emphasize that, from the beginning, the initiative has been has reinforced with the relevant awareness campaign aimed at optimizing cleaning "to make Pego a benchmark town in this section," they indicate.
