Pego launches a new Infojove and approves the Municipal Plan for Joventut as a roadmap until 2026

10 October 2022 - 14: 06

Last weekend the municipality of Pegolí inaugurated the new Punt d'Informació Juvenil (PiJ). The new offices of the Infojove Pego now move to the first block of buildings of the old institute.

The councilor for Youth, Raúl Tamarit, has considered that "we want to consolidate the service in a place of greater accessibility and visibility, as close to the reality of the street as possible". Since its creation in 2018, this service has become a point of reference for pegolina youth between the ages of 11 and 30.

There, the youngest go to socialize, participate in the recreational activities that are organized and in training actions and workshops. On the other hand, the young public of legal age uses the information services implemented such as the Youth Guarantee System, the Bo Jove Lloguer, the Carnet Jove and all those projects and programs that are implemented in Pego by the Institut Valencià de la Joventut (IVAJ ).

The new resources available to the current Infojove have made it possible to implement a healthy eating program that started at the inauguration with the collaboration of the local agricultural cooperative that provides oranges to make natural juice. Los Quintos 2023 also took the opportunity to make themselves known and made their first fundraising action with the preparation of llauna cokes.

With the collaboration of the Pego Municipal Library, the Infojove now has its own youth reading point, a social corner with sofas, computers for educational and recreational use, and an outdoor ping-pong table that contributes to making the most of the patio. Board games and crafts continue to be the main tools with which young people can enjoy a space made for them and where they participate directly in defining proposals.

The inauguration was attended by the entire government team, but also with the support of the rest of the municipal groups and local youth associations, Juniors Ambra MD and the Grupo Scout Pego.

Municipal Youth Plan

The Municipal Youth Plan (2022-2026) has been recently approved unanimously by all the municipal groups. A multi-year roadmap adapted to the parameters established by the Valencian Youth Strategy but, above all, focused on the local reality through the sociological research work used in its preparation.

Under the direction of the local Youth Coordinator, Maido Moreno, this document converts the demands and needs of the young pegolins into a 5-year action plan.

The youth technique highlights that the social participation achieved in the process of drawing up the plan has been exceptional given that 248 young people between the ages of 11 and 18 and 123 more between the ages of 19 and 30 have been interviewed. The proposals of these have structured the direct dialogues opened with the municipal representatives through two Participatory Forums.

According to Moreno, "young people really want to speak." The Pla Jove de Pego is structured around six axes:

  • Leisure, culture, sport and environment
  • Occupation, training and entrepreneurship
  • Emancipation, housing and mobility
  • Participation, associationism and volunteering
  • Communication
  • Coexistence and healthy habits

The full document will be available from November through the website of the City Council of Pego, the IVAJ, and the MACMA (Mancomunitat Cultural el Marina Alta).
