The Pego City Council has signed an agreement with the parish of the Assumption of Our Lady to increase and improve the promotion of the religious heritage of the municipality. This is an agreement with which the parish undertakes to keep religious buildings such as the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady open so that it can be visited. Guided tours for small groups will also be scheduled. The aim is to raise awareness of the important artistic and cultural heritage housed in the ecclesiastical buildings.
Visiting hours for the public will be from 9:30 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and from 18:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
The duration of this agreement will be one year. "It is a commitment to promote religious tourism. Fortunately, in Pego we have a heritage of great value, which even many Pegolinos are unaware of. The objective is to open these spaces more to the public and make part of the history of our municipality known," says the Councillor for Tourism, Ricardo Sendra.
This agreement is another step towards the council's commitment to promoting religious heritage. It is worth remembering that a few months ago an advertising brochure was published with which to discover all the religious sites in the municipality. A document, in which a detailed description is provided, takes a tour of the church of the Assumption of Our Lady, the chapel of Ecce-Homo, the Franciscan Convent and the church of the Sagrada Familia. Descriptions of the hermitages of Sant Josep, Sant Miquel and Sant Antoni are also included, as well as those of Sant Joan, Sant Sebastià and even the disappeared Sant Pere, which was located in the Favara area.
