Pedreguer processes 73 sanctions for breaching the Street Cleaning and Waste Management Ordinance in 2022

January 05 from 2023 - 14: 28

Pedreguer's commitment to keeping the municipality clean has led to a total of 73 sanctioning files being recounted in 2022 for breaching the Ordinance regulating street cleaning and waste management. These have been collected from the reports of complaints from the Local Police.

Most of them are for depositing any type of urban or municipal waste, including containers or packaging, outside of the approved containers or alternative systems authorized for this purpose by the City Council, specifically at the different contribution points.

The City Council has reinforced surveillance in these spaces in the face of abuses by a small part of the population, "which offer a terrible public image despite the expense allocated to cleaning them and the effort that the vast majority of citizens are making to follow the regulations," they point out.

The rules for the use of these spaces are regulated by the Municipal Ordinance for Street Cleaning and Waste Management and non-compliance may imply penalties of up to 6.010 euros in case of recidivism.

The contribution points are facilities distributed throughout the municipal area, monitored and controlled by the City Council, whose function is to offer citizens who do not reside in the urban area a place to separately deposit the waste they generate in their homes.

sanctions in detail

In specific data, the largest number of files are for improper use of the contribution points (56), despite the fact that there are also open or ended due to incidents on public roads or the eco-park (11) or for throwing onto private plots ( 6).

27 have been paid (between 48 and 300 euros), 28 are in process, 9 pending payment, 4 sent to SUMA and 5 have been archived for different reasons. These sanctions are related to behaviors and activities aimed at cleaning public and private spaces, as well as the collection, storage, transport, recovery, treatment and elimination of urban or municipal waste.

In each disciplinary file, information is provided, among others, on the place of the infraction, the date of the infraction, the start date of the file, the type of sanction, as well as the article of the Ordinance violated that identifies the type of infraction.

Home Pickup

Regarding furniture, belongings, or pruning remains, the municipality has a free home collection service, two days a week, upon telephone request at numbers 661 956 444 and 661 956 438. In addition, as an alternative, the Ecoparque, the municipal facility, also completely free to use, where a wide variety of waste generated in the domestic sphere can be deposited separately, but which, due to its nature or composition, has no place in conventional containers installed on the street. Its hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. More information about the collection service and ecopark of Pedreguer in the link.

The Councilor for Municipal Services, Pepe Cabrera Puigcerver, has called for maximum citizen collaboration with the good use of these public spaces, both for image and for commitment to caring for the environment and empathy with the majority of the neighbors who follow the Ordinance.
