It has not been three days since the European delegations that have participated in the Erasmus + project on traditional sports MAGICS left Pedreguer and the members of another project in which the municipality of Marina Alta is immersed, the EVEN, are already knocking on the door. around volunteering and the role of associationism.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Pedreguer becomes the recipient of 13 delegations from 11 countries, Lithuania, Latvia, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Malta, Estonia and Greece.
The reason is the celebration of the European project EVEN. This project wants to deepen the debate on the role of volunteering in supporting small communities in a constantly changing world. It focuses on the role of networks and encourages new forms of civic and democratic engagement that bridge the gap between governments, local authorities and EU citizens. The promotion of active participation of citizens and their understanding of the policy-making process, opposing the feeling of passivity and incomprehension that often leads to negative propaganda and Euroscepticism.
A good program has been prepared by the City Council, which, as organizer of a main act of the project, presents practical presentations on the European Union in fundraising to develop volunteering both outside the state and in the town itself; round tables with experiences of civic activity of the association, etc. In addition, there will also be a space for recreation visiting the town or the Albarda garden among other options.
In addition, on this occasion, the event forms a good synergy with the TOPS program, in which the municipality of Pego participates. At the same time, a main event is also organized in this neighboring town. For this reason, the two municipalities have combined resources and efforts, thus multiplying the possibilities and sharing debates, speakers and the agenda. This possibility is motivated because both projects have common objectives that can coincide and take advantage of each other in addition to adding delegations and participants.
We recall that Pedreguer already valued the work of his associative fabric in the stage of the EVEN project that took place at the beginning of the month in Cyprus. Now they will have the opportunity to show some of these experiences in situ, since associations with which the City Council collaborates will provide their examples: Help me at the local level, AMADEM at the regional level or the Valencian Fund for Solidarity at the national/international level.
