Pedreguer obtains a subsidy thanks to its garbage collection system

November 23 from 2022 - 12: 52

Pedreguer has been granted 55.056,75 euros of European funds to advance in the improvement of separate collections at source.

The municipality of Pedreguer has been the beneficiary of 55.056,75 euros of European reconstruction funds to advance in the improvement of separate collection at source through, in this case, new door-to-door separate collection models, as detailed by the Generalitat . Within the call for aid for the implementation of new separate collections, especially bio-waste, and improvement of existing ones, financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, Pedreguer has benefited from €49.601,77 for domestic bio-waste bins, compostable bags for domestic use, community bio-waste bins, user identification and weighing system, containers for public roads, construction of delivery areas and access control, bins for bio-waste from large generators, trucks for bio-waste collection and campaign of information, dissemination and awareness in the population and monitoring of the project, plus an amount of €5.454,98 for the construction of a biocomposting plant.

It is fair to say that these amounts are provisional, because finally those municipalities that do not have justified spending in time and form may lose their allocations that would happen in those municipalities that, like Pedreguer, have a very justified destination of the aid.

It can be affirmed that the Pedreguer 'PaP' (Door to Door) system and its implementation process have a positive balance, thanks to the good work of the majority of citizens, and that is reflected in the data and percentages of selective collection that is done in the municipality. A clear example is the decrease in the fraction of leftovers, door-to-door, from 88% in August 2021 (the highest fraction that was collected) to 12% today.

The General Directorate for Environmental Quality appreciates and highly values the MSW collection project in Pedreguer, which collects waste separately house to house from its inhabitants to the urban area, its adaptation and its generally good reception , achieving in a few weeks the recycling levels required by European regulations.
