Last Saturday, November 26, the XXXI edition of the Vila de Pedreguer Honor Awards took place. Sergi Ferrús Peris, mayor of Pedreguer, opened the event, alluding to the great work and valuable contribution to the
society of people and entities awarded, as well as the great work carried out each year by the independent Jury of the Awards. Sergi Ferrús took the opportunity to insist on the need to eradicate the scourge of gender violence, which causes us so much pain every day.
After recognizing the invaluable dedication of the member of the jury who has ceased this year, Margarita Pérez Estrada, giving her the recognition metope by the President of the Cortes Enric Morera, the usual
intermission, which on this occasion was carried out by Merxe Pineda, Paco Pineda and Sonia Vallès.
Established in 1992, on the occasion of the second centenary of the death of the architect from Pedreguer, Antoni Gilabert i Fornés (1716-1792), and awarded annually since then, these awards are intended to recognize the outstanding contributions made by individuals and entities in the fields of architecture, the defense of freedom and solidarity, and culture.
In this thirty-first edition, the Honor Award for the Defense of Liberties and Solidarity was awarded to Condenados al Curb, for their firm work in favor of the inclusion of people with functional diversity.
The CÍRCULO technical team received the Honor Award for Architectural or Urban Merit, for the special attention paid to the environment and the sustainability of its interventions of a social nature.
The Platform for the Language was distinguished with the Vila de Pedreguer Honor Award for Cultural Merit, for its constant work for the defense, promotion and normalization of our language, always aimed at making it present in any field.
Finally, the award corresponding to the Local Area Honorable Mention was given to Clementina and Josep Antoni Comes, for their supportive and altruistic spirit and for the legacy that throughout their lives they have bestowed and still contribute to the town of Pedreguer.
The act was closed by the President of the Cortes, Enric Morera, encouraging Pedreguer to continue valuing the merits represented by these awards with more than thirty years of life and congratulating the winners. As usual every year, the Honor Awards have also included a whole series of minutes, in order to publicize the work of the people and entities awarded in the respective fields. Thus, on November 21, the inauguration of the exhibition dedicated to the award-winning people and entities took place,
which have also held several conferences, between November 21 and 25, aimed at students of IES Pedreguer and the general public of the municipality and the rest of the region.
