The Third International Exchange of athletes, coaches and organizers of the "MAGICS – Medieval Activities Grow International Cooperation in Sports" project is just around the corner. Specifically, it will take place from tomorrow, September 8, until Monday 12. The venue for the event will be Orte, a town in Italy, and the Pedreguer City Council will attend on behalf of the territory and the pilota Valenciana.
The MAGICS project is funded by the European Union within the framework of the Erasmus + Sport Program and coordinated by the Hungarian Association Várkapitány Lovagi Torna Egyesület. This involves traditional sports associations and municipalities from 5 European countries (Hungary, Italy, Spain, Lithuania and Poland) in activities aimed at promoting sports normally considered as "historical re-enactment", folkloric element or traditional sport. These would be, for example, traditional dances, archery on horseback, flag games and the Valencian pilota.
The project focuses on the importance of these sports for local communities, as promoters of intergenerational exchange and tools for the transmission of traditional knowledge. And, in general, for Europe, as an expression of cultural diversity as a primary value of the European Union.

The central moment of the act will be the workshop Mutual understanding and dialogue: transgenerational cooperation in traditional sports, which will take place at 10:00 am in the Conference Room of the Roberteschi Palace.
In addition, the international exchange will be held in Orte during the celebrations of the Medieval Octave, which will allow European delegations to attend a series of historical re-enactments, with the Historical Parade and the Palio to be held on Sunday, September 11, and the great show of the flags of the seven districts of Orte that closes the Eighth celebrations like every year. There will be moments dedicated to training in the art of the flag, carried out by the Orte wavers, and to medieval sports such as target shooting with axes and javelins and sword games, by the Hungarian Association Várkapitány Lovagi Torna Egyesület.
Pedreguer, ambassador of the Valencian pilota
The City Council of Pedreguer will present the old game of Valencian pilota, an ancient discipline that today is trying to recover among young people thanks to careful improvement and transmission work carried out at a basic level, even when the game of pilota is not officially recognized as a sport by the Spanish government.
Sebastià Giner Muñoz, known sportingly as Sebastià de Murla, who was a Valencian pilota player, played in the game of ratlles, and until very recently coordinator of Pilota of the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat Valenciana, have been invited to participate in the conference. , as well as Sergi Ferrús Peris, Mayor of Pedreguer, who will hold working meetings with the political representatives of the municipality of Orte.
The MAGICS project is funded by the Erasmus + Program for the sports sector, aimed at allowing small amateur sports entities to acquire knowledge, train their staff, exchange experiences with other clubs and organizations in the European Union.
