Independent parties from the Marina Alta join the provincial committee of the Municipalist Union in Alicante

May 27 from 2024 - 13: 40

The confederation of independent parties Unión Municipalista held its first provincial meeting in Alicante on Saturday in Muro de Alcoy. Around a hundred public officials from parties and groups of municipal voters from across the province participated in this event.

During the meeting, members of different parties such as: Juan Carlos Pérez (Dénia), Pepa Masiá (Dénia), Rebeca Merchán (Calp), Juan Manuel del Pino (Calp) and Mari Carmen Sala (Els Poblets). This list will be expanded in the coming days with the incorporation of other members of municipalist groups in the province.

In addition, Gabriel Tomás, councilor in the Muro de Alcoy City Council, was elected provincial coordinator of the Municipalist Union in Alicante, a proposal made by FEPAL, the federation of local parties of the Valencian Community.

The objective of the meeting was to agree on the formation of the provincial committee and the committees of the judicial parties of the province, as well as to establish the lines of work and strategies for the coming years, until the local and regional elections in May 2027.

The meeting was chaired by the national president of the Municipalist Union and mayor of Nules (Castellón), David García, together with the mayor of Ontinyent (València), Jorge Rodríguez, the vice president of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Natalia Enguix, and the general secretary from FEPAL, José Juan Server.

During the day, we remembered last February 24, the day on which the municipalist parties of Spain gathered in Madrid, in a session that had the participation of more than 400 representatives of municipalist parties.

José Juan Server highlighted that "unity is the future of municipalism", while Natalia Enguix stressed the importance of "focusing efforts on one's own territories."

For his part, Jorge Rodríguez pointed out that if the general interest of the citizens they represent is put above, anything is possible. Furthermore, David García stated that they were not "aware of the magnitude of the movement", that it is "the most ambitious political project of Spanish democracy."
