Ondara once again hosts the 'X Ciutadà Compromés Cinema Festival'

23 October 2024 - 14: 28

The Councillor for Linguistic Normalisation of the Ondara Town Council, Jordi Dominguis, has announced that Ondara will be one of the screening venues for the 10th Ciutadà Compromés Cinema Festival, this Saturday, October 26th starting at 18:00 p.m.

The tenth edition of the ACICOM (Citizenship and Communication Association) Ciutadà Compromés Cinema Festival will be held from October 21 to November 11, 2024 in various venues in the Valencian Community (including the Ondara Auditorium), promoting the audiovisual sector in the region, creating synergies of collaboration with social entities and citizens. It is a festival that offers numerous audiovisuals with a critical look at the realities of our environment.

The Committed Citizen Film Festival is an opportunity to bring producers, their audiovisual products and authors closer to the committed citizens of Valencia. Specifically, the Municipal Auditorium of Ondara, within its programming for this month of October, will host the screening of two documentaries framed in this festival, starting at 18 pm (free admission):

'The Fifla', a 30-minute documentary, is a narrative about the dignity and importance of memory. Silvia Soria, known as 'La Fifla', still lives in her shack in the district of La Punta, in Valencia, an area of orchards and beach that has almost disappeared due to the construction of infrastructures such as the port, the railway lines or the motorway. At the age of seven, 'La Fifla' collected the body of her father, shot by Franco in the cemetery of Paterna.

'Sau: the submerged memory' is a 59-minute documentary. Its synopsis: Where is memory when water swallows everything? Sau is a fossil of lives and stories anchored in time. When the reservoir level drops, the ruins of an old bell tower and the remains of a town emerge, which live in the memories of the people who lived and worked there more than sixty years ago. Through the eyes of its protagonists, we revisit a landscape that no longer exists. Water and concrete. Stone and wind. Spaces of memory that bring us closer to a little-known story: that of the Sau swampers, the workers who came from the south of Spain and built the dam of one of the most emblematic reservoirs today.

The person responsible for Linguistic Normalisation at Ondara Town Council, Jordi Dominguis, explained that the 2009th Festival Cinema Ciutadà Compromés is organised by ACICOM, a civic association founded in XNUMX by a group of resilient people and dedicated to defending the rights of citizens, especially in the areas of media and communication cultures, which understands audiovisual media as one of the best vehicles for promoting new models of life, motivating positive behaviour and attitudes towards human existence, denouncing injustices or generating vital analysis and reflections.

Since 2015, they have consolidated a unique and stimulating project: the Committed Citizen Film Festival (FCCC).
