The celebration of the traditional Blessing of Animals in Ondara in honor in Sant Antoni will take place the Sunday January 22 2023. An act that will be organized by the Association of Carreteros and Caballistas de Ondara, with the collaboration of the Parish of Santa Anna and the Department of Festivals and Traditions of the Ondara City Council, directed by Miguel Gomis.
Year after year, there are hundreds of people who congregate at Prado so that their animals and pets are blessed. There will be a concentration of horses to carry out a parade from 11:00 am through the streets of the town. At 12:00 pm there will be the mass, and at its end, the image of Sant Antoni will be collected in the Church, and it will be moved in front of the Prado, so that the rector of Ondara proceeds to the popular blessing of animals at 13:00 pm hours. It is a deeply rooted tradition in Ondara.
Furthermore, the Saturday January 21 At 16:30 p.m. the Carreteros and Caballistas de Ondara will carry out a parade through the town (lowering the tree), arriving at the Prado at 17:00 p.m. There will be bar service from 17:30 p.m., and the start of the bonfire will be at 20:00 p.m.
The Festeros del Cristo 2023 have organized the celebration of the traditional Sant Antoni dinner at the Prado site on Saturday. It will be at 21:30 p.m. Tickets for dinner can be purchased at the Festeros de Cristo 2023 or at the Association of Carreteros y Caballistas de Ondara (16 euros per person). The Department of Festivals and Traditions of the Ondara City Council collaborates.
