Last Saturday, September 21, the Escola Municipal de Pilota d'Ondara participated in the celebration of the XXXIII Pilota Valenciana Day, which took place at L'Alqueria del Bàsquet in València. During the event, the trophies were presented by the Valencian Pilota Federation to the best teams of the regional final phases of the XLI Jocs Esportius of the Valencian Community, in the various modalities of this traditional sport (Valencian frontón, frare, galotxetes, one wall, galotxa, raspall, llargues and escala i corda).
The Escola Municipal de Pilota d'Ondara, with Juanma Garrido as coordinator and Raül Blasco as coach, collected a total of 10 awards in the 2023-2024 season. It is worth noting that Raül Blasco was awarded as the best coach in the onewall category. To facilitate attendance at the event, the Sports Department of the Ondara City Council, headed by Lluís Fornés, provided a bus so that the players and their families could go to Valencia to collect the trophies.
Among the most outstanding results of the Ondara teams, the under-10s team won the silver medal in the llargues category. In the under-12s category, four trophies were won: gold in the pairs' fronton and llargues category, silver in the pairs' one wall and bronze also in the pairs' one wall. The children's team won silver in llargues, while the cadet team won three trophies: gold in the pairs' one wall, silver in raspall and bronze in escala i corda. Finally, the junior team won silver in llargues.
Both the Mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, and the Councillor for Sports, Lluís Fornés, congratulated the members of the Escola Municipal de Pilota d'Ondara and their coaches for the successes achieved during the past season. Fornés, who accompanied the teams during the awards ceremony, expressed his pride in the achievements obtained and encouraged the players to continue with their good performance in the new season, which has already begun under the direction of Juanma Garrido and the coaches Raül Blasco and, as a novelty this year, Marc Terrades.
