Ondara warms up for its parties and presents the poster for the Trimmer Contest

09 2024 April - 14: 30

The Popular Festivals of Sant Jaume de Ondara will be held from July 19 to 27, 2024 and in view of this festivity, this morning, in the Ondara Bullring (scene of the bullfighting events of the Sant Jaume Festivals) the Department of Festivals and Traditions of the Ondara City Council and the Bullfighting Cultural Association 'Joia Levantina d'Ondara' have presented what will be the poster for one of the main bullfighting events of the Popular Festivals of Sant Jaume 2024: the Trimmers Contest. This event will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 20:00 p.m.

Advance tickets can be purchased now at the Ondara Culture House or at the municipal website at the price of 7 euros for adults and 5 euros for children up to 12 years old, -at the box office the price will be 10 euros-.

The presentation of the event was attended by the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Jordi Ruiz; the Councilor for Participation, Miguel Gomis, and the representatives of the Bullfighting Cultural Association 'Joia Levantina d'Ondara'; its president, Paco Tormo; Vicent Huet Benavent, and Javi Gómez. This year, the Sant Jaume Festival trimmer competition will take place on Sunday, as usual, and will feature bulls from the Benavent ranch. There will be no exhibition of female trimmers (due to lack of professionals), but there will be 12 trimmers, many of them new faces who are strong, according to Javi Gómez.

It is worth remembering that this year the 20th anniversary of the 'Joia Levantina d'Ondara' Bullfighting Cultural Association is commemorated, and at the Sant Jaume Festival you can enjoy all the livestock farms in the province of Alicante, as recently announced, with a total of 12 farms: Capota (Villa-Real), Vicent Benavent (Quatretonda), Asensi (Orba), El Salero (Montserrat), Les Cuevas (Pedreguer), La Paloma (Jalón), Gregorio de Jesús (Sueca), La Templanza (Calpe), MA Mínguez (Siete Aguas), La Hermandad (Xàbia), Hermanos Cali (Moixent) and Alberto Garrido (Oropesa).

The Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Jordi Ruiz, has highlighted that one of the highlights of the festivals, year after year, are the bullfighting events, which are organized jointly by the Department of Festivals and Traditions and the Bullfighting Cultural Association 'Joia Levantina. d'Ondara', thanking the great help of the Bullfighting Cultural Association to carry out the bullfighting programming.
