Every summer season the Repsol Guide updates its catalog to share with the public new additions to the list of recommended restaurants that are worthy of receiving the Solete Repsol category. On this occasion, the novelty is that it is the chefs themselves who make the choice, who have chosen three restaurants in La Marina Alta as their trusted places.
There have been 125 chefs with Soles who recommend more than 750 establishments throughout the country. This summer there are 550 new ones and 200 already identified in previous editions that have now been endorsed by the chefs themselves. Specifically, the Valencian Community has received 39 Soletes, of which 26 are new additions.
Xàbia triumphs in this summer edition, receiving three soles from the chefs. These have gone to La Cantina, El Trinquet and La Caleta, the latter repeating with the title that was already awarded in 2022.
Experts have described La Cantina as "the place where fishermen and sea workers come together every morning and afternoon after unloading at the Xabia fish market." In addition, they have highlighted the rice dishes and "their premium product brought from the market" of El Trinquet. From La Caleta, which they describe as "a rustic, natural and simple place", they recommend trying their cocas, sardines, chopitos, cuttlefish or tellinas.
In addition, they receive a Solete in the restaurant Beniasia, from Poble Nou de Benitatxell, as a novelty this year. They conclude that this restaurant is "a place to repeat", highlighting its incredible winery.
In this way, the Marina Alta is positioned as a region with a very rich and varied gastronomy that attracts even cooking experts.
