The 2025 Alicante Provincial Council Cup held the finals of the twelfth edition of the escala i corda event and the fourth edition of the women's raspall event this Sunday. The finals were held at the "Alcalde Vicent Pérez Devesa" trinquet in Benidorm.
In the escala i corda category, the trio formed by Marc, Héctor and Guillem Palau (Murla and Vall de Laguar Town Councils) clearly won 60-30 over Guillem Palau, Salva and Bueno (Pedreguer Town Council). In raspall, the team of Irene, Mar and Fanni (also Murla-Vall de Laguar) beat Victoria, Júlia and Natalia (Pedreguer Town Council). Dénia) by a tight 25-20.
The women's final kicked off the morning at the Benidorm trinquet. The blue team, with an inspired Irene and a vibrant Mar, always held the lead. However, Victoria's team, with a remarkable performance from Natalia at the top, held their own until the very end.
The match ended in a tie in the decisive game, with Irene, Mar, and Fanni securing the final. Irene and Mar, winners of the Alicante Provincial Council Cup in 2022, once again lifted the trophy that Fanni, last year's runner-up, had won this time.
The red team clearly dominated the final of the escala i corda. Marc, Héctor, and Guillem Palau started the match much more efficiently and dominated their game against Salva Palau, Salva, and Bueno (Pedreguer City Council), who were unable to find the weak points of the Laguar-Murla team.
Even so, all six players delivered hard-fought goals, and the Blues challenged the Reds' superiority with bursts of courage and skill. However, Marc's powerful play, accompanied by a very accurate Héctor and a very agile Guillem up front, gradually brought them closer to victory.
The 60-30 final result marks the first Alicante Provincial Council Cup title for Marc and Guillem, and the third for Héctor, following those won in 2018 and 2019 (as well as having finished runner-up in 2015 and 2024).
The trophy and medal presentations were attended by Toni Pérez, president of the Alicante Provincial Council and mayor of Benidorm; Juan Fernando Giner and Salvador Sirera, mayor and sports councilor of Murla; Sergi Ferrús and Pepe Cabrera, mayor and sports councilor of Pedreguer; Juan Carlos Mengual and Óscar Soria, mayor and sports councilor of Vall de Laguar; and Vicent Molines and Elena Gómez, president and vice president of the Valencian Pilota Federation.
