'Molt de Gust', the promotional brand of Agriculture for the 'poma de perelló' from the Navy

November 22 from 2022 - 15: 18

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, through the brand Molt de Gust, supports the promotion of the poma de perelló de la Marina at a culinary event in Valencia.

The poma de perelló is an apple of a native variety grown in the mountains of Alicante, specifically in the municipalities of Agres, Alfarara, Benifallim, Tárbena, Vall d'Alcalà, Castell de Castells and, above all, in La Vall d'Ebo .

It has a production of close to 100.000 kilos, limited to the Marina Alta, La Marina Baixa and El Comtat, and it is a fruit that ripens in winter and begins to be harvested in mid-October.

Its main uniqueness lies in the fact that it does not mature on the tree, but is collected when it is green, and it acquires its characteristic color protected by cloth or blankets. After the 'acanellat' process, the perelló poma turns into a brown fruit that lasts a long time, as it lasts several months in the fridge. Like almost all apples, it can be eaten fresh as a table fruit, roasted on the barbecue or in the oven, or in preparations in the form of cakes or fritters.

To discover some of its possibilities, on Saturday, November 26, starting at 12:00 p.m. at La Marina de Valencia, chef Evarist Miralles, chef at the Nou Cavall Verd restaurant in Vall de Laguar (Alicante), will hold a showcooking where He will explain different elaborations with poma de perelló and will comment on its applications in local and seasonal gastronomy.

During the event, it will also be possible to taste this fruit, which will be offered directly by the producers, and purchase native products and artisan pastries from La Vall d'Ebo with this winter fruit as the protagonist.
