Hot, dry air mass and strong insolation: the towns of the Marina Alta that could "melt"

29 2023 April - 08: 00

An early summer. This week the progressive entry of a “very hot and dry air mass, of African origin”, according to the State Meteorological Agency, has made being on the street unbearable at some times of the day.

"The presence of this warm mass, together with the conditions of atmospheric stability and strong insolation, will cause a progressive and marked rise in temperatures, with values typical of summer and exceptionally high for these dates," adds the AEMET. And this has been the case, above all, in the southwest of the peninsula on Thursday and Friday.

Today, Saturday, the extreme temperatures, for a current month of April, are expected to settle again on the Marina Alta, as they did in the middle of this week, with values that exceeded 30 °C in many locations. And, although the region is not on a yellow warning due to maximum temperatures, the south of the province of Alicante will be on it throughout the afternoon.

According to AEMET data, only Calp will remain below a maximum of 30 °C. The rest of the municipalities will exceed them in a general way, being l'Atzúbia and Pego the two that will register the hottest with 34 degrees.

But the maxims will not only be the focus of attention. The minimums will also be protagonists, since they will not drop below 15 °C in any town in the region.

Below is a list with the maximum and minimum that each town in the Marina Alta will register on Saturday, April 29, according to AEMET data:
