83 women from Els Poblets have this morning been the protagonists of one of the central events of the commemoration of International Women's Day in the municipality. A large mantle made with more than 1.400 handmade mandalas has covered the main street after months and months of work, specifically since August of last year.
The installation, carried out by the brigades of the Els Poblets Town Hall, was carried out during the week, preparing the street for the big day. This 8M has been lived with great joy and sisterhood in the town. They have been the stars of the parade prior to the inauguration of the mandala mantle, touring much of the streets that have received them with applause and admiration.
Gathered under their mandalas, the Councillor for Equality of Els Poblets, Natalia Carrió, the President of the Dones Els Poblets Association, Amparo Mas, and the Mayor José Luis Mas have thanked each and every one of the participants who have collaborated in the creation of the colourful mandalas.
After the emotional words, each one received a gift from the association in recognition of their dedication. Els Poblets already has a beautiful street in their honour. A group photo culminated the event, giving way to the wine of honour to end the morning on a good note.
Today Els Poblets has paid tribute to its women, young and old (and centenarians), with a big party that has been permanently installed, expanding the Art Experience project of urban art to everyone's reach.
