The CEIP Rosalia Bondia de Pego has taken advantage of the welcome of the new academic year to receive the firefighters who participated in the efforts to extinguish the Vall d'Ebo fire last August. In an event organized in the center's courtyard, both students and teachers today received a small delegation from the fire department of the park. Dénia, all of them residents of Pego, who were on the front line putting out the fire.

“We want this to be the beginning of a fruitful relationship, we are going to work hard with you”, commented the director of the school, Núria Ferrer. The director wanted to thank "the great work they were doing to safeguard our mountains" and gave them a small detail: a painting with an image of the mountains that surround the municipality of Pego, "a photo for hope", has added.

After loud applause, one of the firefighters, Carles Siscar, also had words of thanks for all those present: "We were very aware of your encouragement at all times, they sent it to us".

In addition, one of the members of Pego Viu, Néstor Portes, has taken the floor to explain the dimensions and consequences of the fire, in a very graphic way and with the help of all the students. Nestor has also commented on the importance of keeping the mountains "cared for to prevent the fire from spreading the way it has done this time."

Finally, after Portes's explanations, the center's teachers have performed a song composed for the occasion and in which the students have also participated. An interpretation with which the act has ended, after a great applause for the firefighters present. “With this act we wanted to sensitize and make students and families aware of the need to take care of our environment, which is so important for our lives”, concluded Ferrer.
