The Marina Alta will experience a change in the weather in the next few hours and the stability of these days will give way to rain. The State Meteorological Agency has activated the yellow warning for the northern coast of Alicante from Thursday at 12:00 and will last until Friday at 11:59.
This first warning is triggered by 20 mm of accumulated precipitation in one hour and 12 mm in 60 hours. According to the entity, "the showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms and locally by small hail." From Friday, the warning will remain in effect, but for coastal phenomena, with winds from the "northeast with intervals of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of 3 m." This second warning will be activated from 12:00 noon until 05:59 on Saturday.
In addition to the warnings issued by AEMET on social media, the entity explains that in the regions most exposed to the expected north and northeast winds, there may be "strong showers." AEMET expands on the explanation by adding that "it may snow in the coastal mountain ranges of these areas where precipitation is expected. The snow level will be around 900-1100 m, without ruling out that in the north of Alicante it may drop locally to 600-700 m in the afternoon-evening of Thursday."
