All the unions of firefighters and firefighters in the Valencian Community have shown their refusal to the proposal to create the UVE (Valencian Emergency Unit) that the Botanical government plans to approve imminently this coming Friday, February 17, in Orihuela .
The Firefighters have indicated that "far from working to unify the six existing fire departments they want to create a seventh body, this will cause, apart from enormous waste, a total lack of coordination in the face of emergencies."
Likewise, from the Platform of Firefighters and Firefighters of the Valencian Country, made up of all the unions with representation in the different Fire Brigades of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante and the national platform CUBP (Unitary Coordinator of Professional Firefighters) have sent a statement in the who show their opposition to the creation of this new unit.
"We are completely opposed to the announcement by the Valencian Government of the creation of the UVE (Valencian Emergency Unit) for various reasons, such as an increase in unnecessary spending, since the functions they want to give it are already carried out by the Firefighters and firefighters of the provincial consortiums and of the city councils of the capitals, an increase in the lack of coordination between services due to the duplicity created without any technical or operational need.
In addition, both the Heads of the different Services and the union representatives presented several allegations to the draft of the project for the creation of the UVE since this was not agreed upon with the relevant actors and only obeyed the whim of the Autonomous Government to set up another body of firefighters to subtract functions and powers from the councils and town halls, where they can do and undo as they please through a commercial company created ad-hoc (SGISE).
On the other hand, from the Platform it is claimed that the creation of a Single Corps of Firefighters and Firefighters be studied and proposed, real, with the participation of the Provincial Consortiums and Town Halls and Forest Firefighters, agreed, effective and efficient as well as professional and 100% direct management public.
It should be said that this claim was transferred to the Head of the AVSRE (Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response) and the Valencian Government, but they have never carried out any study or proposal for the creation of a truly public and professional Single Body. We also request that until this is not possible, the AVSRE dedicates itself to coordinating the different fire services and not creating unnecessary beach bars that can privatize a public and essential service for all Valencians.
Therefore, we ask that the decree creating the UVE not be approved, which we know does not serve to improve the response to emergencies, but rather to make it worse, without valid technical criteria and without the participation of the competent services and administrations. in the matter."
