This morning, in the social building of the Moraira Nautical Club, the XI Edition of the Gourmet Race Teulada Moraira regatta was presented. This meeting will take place on October 5 2024, starting at 08:30, at the Moraira Nautical Club.

The meeting was chaired by Tomás Solano, director of the Moraira Nautical Club; Ramón Martí, vice president of the Club; Juan Vicente Oller Llobell, president of the Nautical Club; and Raul Llobell, mayor of Teulada Moraira.

Tomás Solano began the event by recalling the work of the director of the regatta, Juan Moll, who was unable to attend. During his speech, he introduced the members of the jury, highlighting the presence of important figures from the world of gastronomy, such as Collado, owner of the restaurants Blue Arribar and La Vía in Blue, Valencia; José Vicente Pérez, chef and owner of the restaurant El Bresol; Carlos García Moreno, chef and owner of dexcaro and Daring, Dénia; Marta Devesa, chef of the restaurant El Hogar del Pescador in La Vila Joiosa, as well as other outstanding chefs and professionals such as Nazario Cano, Marina Vega, Ferdinando Bernardi and José Manuel Miguel. He also announced that Alberto Ferruz, chef of the BonAmb restaurant in Xàbia, is once again the president of the jury.

Ramón Martí provided technical details of the regatta, explaining that the course lasts approximately one hour and 50 minutes. "Motor boats must maintain an average speed of 10 knots, while sailing boats sail at an average of 5 knots," he said. In addition, the plating time is 5 minutes, which represents a challenge for the participants, who must cook while sailing.

Juan Vicente Oller Llobell has expressed his pride in the organisation of the 11th edition of the Gourmet Race, thanking sponsors, collaborators and club staff for their dedication to making this edition a resounding success, just like the previous ones. Oller has invited members and the general public to participate in the scheduled events, highlighting the importance of this event for the community.

Finally, Mayor Raúl Llobell has underlined the importance of the Gourmet Race as an established event in the town and beyond. “It is a unique and exclusive regatta, which Teulada Moraira and the Nautical Club can boast of,” he said. He also thanked the Nautical Club for its work in the organisation and highlighted the tourist, gastronomic and cultural importance of the event. “I am sure that this edition is fantastic, like all the previous ones, and that we will continue to enjoy many more in the future,” he concluded.

The Gourmet Race, which combines sport, gastronomy and nautical tourism, is a unique opportunity to enjoy the sea and cuisine on board. This year, tribute is paid to the Gourmets Group and two of its most representative figures, Francisco López Canís and Fernando Jover, for their contribution to the development of the race since its inception.
