The social welfare area of the Marina Alta has received this year from the Diputación de Alicante more than 3,5 million euros. The deputy for Social Services, Mari Carmen Jover, the deputy for Doctor Esquerdo and Family, Juan Bautista Roselló, visited two of the centers supported by the institution in the region last week, where they explained in detail all the investments in this matter.

As explained by the head of the social area, on the one hand, 2,6 million euros have been allocated to guarantee social benefits aimed at alleviating extraordinary situations caused by COVID, the energy crisis or the reception of refugees from Ukraine.

These aid lines of the Provincial Council "have as a priority objective to improve, through town councils and associations, the quality of life of citizens, especially those groups that need it most." This was stated by Jover after touring the facilities of the APRODESCO occupational center, in La Xara, together with the president of the association, Ana María Varillo. Similarly, they also visited the Child Development and Early Care Center of the Ludai Association in Dénia.

On the other hand, they affirm that 445.000 euros have been paid for the Primary Care of associations of the Marina Alta and other municipalities. Another 90.000 euros have also been invested to carry out social promotion activities aimed at vulnerable groups, as well as for the acquisition of equipment and vehicles in municipalities with a population of less than 20.000 inhabitants.

230.000 euros to non-profit associations

The Diputación also collaborates with the consistories of the region in the acquisition of equipment and other expenses of municipal centers and spaces for social use, this year with more than 137.000 euros. The collaboration in social matters of the provincial institution also includes non-profit associations that, in the case of the Marina Alta region, have received 230.000 euros this year.

The aid is aimed at promoting training and therapeutic activities; defray travel expenses for gatherings; the maintenance of stable services of information, orientation, psychosocial intervention and labor integration; and the acquisition of inventoriable assets, among other actions. These injections will benefit groups with socio-sanitary needs or in a situation of special social vulnerability, such as people with functional diversity, the elderly or minors who require protection.
