This is being a special year for the Moors and Christians festival of Pego. Just a few days before the Fair began, the Ministry declared the celebration as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest in the Valencian Community. Yesterday, the 13 rows took over the streets of Pego to properly celebrate the great news in the traditional entrance that brings together thousands of spectators along the entire route.
As is customary, the Christian troops opened the parade, followed by the Ambaixadora 2024 filà, the Inquisidors, followed by the Captaincy 2024, Al-Hagamba Muza, and, finally, the rest of the Moorish side.
The filà pegolina captain delighted with a striking and extensive pageantry with Juanjo Bolufer as captain. A great show that included the participation of the Els Pacos de Mutxamel Comparsa, born in 1923, with 100 members and 60 musicians.
The pageantry of La gamba was prepared through a story inspired by Some different festivals, by Paco Pascual, in which the little ones of Pego traveled in time to discover the revolt of Al-Azraq against the troops of Jaume I in the mountains. In addition, they presented the Gamberra Squad to the general public, hosting a mixed squad in the row for the first time.
Wrapping them in their glorious adventure, all the lines that make up the party in Pego, left from Sant Rafel street until the parade concluded at Ausiàs March street.
