Benissa City Council, through its Department of Health and Animal Welfare, has launched the "No, here: Destroy pee" campaign, with the aim of raising awareness among citizens about picking up dog poop and cleaning up dog pee in public spaces.
The initiative seeks to promote civic behavior among pet owners and contribute to maintaining cleaner and more well-maintained streets.
To this end, the City Council has placed 70 banners on the municipality's lampposts with direct, visual messages such as "Pee destroys you," "Poop is dirty," and "Don't leave the mess behind."
Raquel Oltra, Councilor for Health and Animal Welfare, highlighted the importance of this campaign: "It's not just a matter of aesthetics, but also of public health and coexistence. We all want a clean and pleasant Benissa, and to achieve this, we need the collaboration of the public."
In addition, as a complement to the campaign, starting Monday, March 17, the City Council will make stickers available to residents on the corners of buildings with the campaign slogan, which they can pick up free of charge at the City Council's Concierge Office (Plaza del Portal, 1).
For his part, the mayor of Benissa, Arturo Poquet, underscored the council's commitment to improving public spaces: "We want Benissa to be a benchmark for cleanliness and civic responsibility. This campaign is a wake-up call to remember that public spaces belong to everyone and that their maintenance is a shared responsibility."
