Discovering the Marina Alta is a set of experiences in the natural environment in different places in the region. With this proposal, physical activity is combined with the discovery of our territory, not only in the landscape, but also botanical, heritage or cultural. This initiative has emerged from the areas of culture and heritage, and the Marina Alta Sports Network, although work will be done from all areas of the Mancomunitat in a coordinated manner, since in addition, the youth population will be encouraged to enjoy active leisure, through the Young Network.
The project began with the creation of a website and the preparation of 4 good practices manuals: Soc de senta, Soc de carrer, Soc de mar and Soc de pedra. They are publicly accessible and free through the Discover the Marina Alta website.
To disseminate the project and train citizens in responsible and sustainable use of natural spaces, some animation videos were made promoting each of the manuals. Now we wanted to give continuity to the project and give it visibility by taking the next step and creating experiences for people interested in participating.
For this reason, a total of 2024 outings have been scheduled for 10 that combine the different sports modalities that we can practice in our region under the motto I Cycle of experiences. Discover the Marina Alta. Four hiking outings are planned: two daytime and two nighttime that will take place in the summer months coinciding with the full moon. And six multi-adventure experiences: one of Nordic walking, one of caving, one of canyoning, one of climbing, one that combines hiking on a via ferrata and one that combines orienteering and geocaching.
The outings will be made throughout the year, adapting to each season the type of activities that we recommend according to the climate and the changes in the landscape that we find as the months go by. With this activity, MACMA aims to promote and encourage responsible use of sports in the natural environment and value our heritage.
The experiences have been chosen seeking to make known the different corners of our region, coastal and inland areas, from north to south. "However, we have many proposals left in our backpack that we want to show you in subsequent editions," explains Lluís Fornés, president of the Sports Network. "We wanted to give continuity to the Camina la Marina and Camina la Luna proposals, which have always been very successful, but adding the experiences that are promoted on the new MACMA website Discover the Marina Alta."
For his part, Sergi Ferrús, president of the regional entity, commented that "the initiative seeks to be a meeting point for people with similar affinities and tastes who dedicate leisure time to sports in Nature", while highlighting that " "It serves to generate tourist products based on sport and natural and cultural heritage, which can then be used by the town councils of the region themselves."
