The Xarxa Esportiva de la Marina Alta, an organisation promoted by the Mancomunitat Comarcal de la Marina Alta (MACMA), has appointed its new president. It was at the plenary session where Sergi Brogniez, Councillor for Sports in Verger, was unanimously chosen as the new president of the Governing Council of the organisation.
The appointment was formalised at the La Xara Social Centre, where the sports councillors from the entire region met to discuss and plan the future objectives of the Xarxa Esportiva. Brogniez replaces Lluis Fornés, former sports councillor of Ondara, who has led the presidency since the beginning of this legislature.
During his speech, Sergi Brogniez highlighted the importance of promoting regional cooperation to promote grassroots sport and underlined the need to consider sport as an educational tool for boys and girls in the Marina Alta, as well as a means to improve both physical and mental health. "It is an honour to take on this challenge and I hope to be up to the task. I am at the disposal of Marina sport. I believe that it is essential to promote grassroots sport and for it to be a tool to educate and create a school. It is also necessary that we begin to see sport as the way to improve the health, both physical and mental, of all the boys and girls in the Marina," said the new president.
The aim of the Xarxa Esportiva de la Marina Alta is to coordinate sports policies between the municipalities in the region, promote sports and promote projects that encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
