La Vall de Gallinera will unveil the works of the Enclave Land Art artistic residency

November 16 from 2022 - 14: 04

On November 19 and 20, the works of the last call for Enclave Land Art will be shown, the project of artistic residences and research in nature that is part of the Resident Culture program of the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana.

The seven selected residences have been developed for two weeks in the natural environment of La Vall de Gallinera, where seven artists have worked on projects linked by a common concept, the dialogue of the human being with nature through contemporary art.

The residence period, which began on November 6, will conclude with the exhibition and guided tours of the artistic tour during the weekend of November 19 and 20, accompanied by a program of activities.

“With Enclave Land Art we propose to reflect on the relationship of the human being, the process of artistic creation and the natural environment. At the same time, we promote the development of rural environments to remember, through unique artistic proposals, the need to reconnect with nature. And, for this, the natural environment of La Vall de Gallinera offers a unique experience”, assures the director of the Consorci de Museus and the CCCC, José Luis Pérez Pont.

The international project selection committee for Enclave Land Art 2022 was made up of Rosa María Castells, curator and head of the Alicante MACA collection; Amélie Aranguren, member of Campo Adentro/Inland and head of artistic programming at the Rural Approach Center; the sculptor Inmaculada Abarca; Alejandro Mañas, artist, researcher and professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and Miguel Mallol, director of Enclave Land Art.

The creators selected in this edition are Macarena Aguilar from Argentina with 'Sonar Solar', Amy Cutler, from the United Kingdom, with 'Valleyglow', Hiroshi Ichikawa, from Japan, with 'Piece'; the Italian Leonardo Magnani with 'En light'; the Spanish Víctor Masferrer with 'Luz Oscura' and Ana Matey with 'El recolector de plumas', and the Portuguese Filipa Pontes with 'Map the sun'.

The selected works include five permanent installations and two audiovisual and sound works of investigation and interrelation with the territory, which address the existing contrast in the orography of the area between the areas of solana and the gloomy, the adaptation of nature and habitability in the territory, with an element that unites them as a link and icon of La Vall: La Foradà.

The Enclave Land Art residency has also held a series of activities and meetings during the artists' stay in order to encourage their interaction with the territory and its inhabitants, as well as publicize the projects and their line of research.

On the weekend of November 19 and 20, all those who wish may come to La Vall de la Gallinera to learn about the projects, whose exhibition will be divided into two venues: the Town Hall building in Benialí and La Carroja in La Vall from Chicken Coop.

About Enclave Land Art

The Enclave Land Art artistic residency program was created in 2016 in Vistabella del Maestrat (Castellón), but last year it moved its scope of action to La Vall de Gallinera, where it is held annually, following the philosophy of encouraging dialogue of the human being with nature through contemporary art. The origin of Enclave Land Art is linked to the creation of artistic itineraries in rural areas, created through a two-week international artist residency.

Enclave Land Art is a project co-produced by the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana within its Cultura Resident program, a creation residency program, as well as being one of the initiatives linked to Creaturisme of the Valencian Tourism Agency. It also has the support of the La Vall de Gallinera Town Hall and the 'Positive Culture' quality seal from the Ministry of Culture.
