The Unió Musical d'Ondara inaugurates the events for Santa Cecilia with the Children's and Youth Band

November 18 from 2024 - 11: 37

Within the framework of the cultural November in Ondara and the traditional celebration of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, last Saturday, November 16, the musical program for 2024 was inaugurated with a concert by the youth band at the Ondara Auditorium. The first part of the concert was in charge of the Children's Band, whose new members received their instruments from the director of the Children's and Youth Band, Daniel Ventura. Ventura also directed the Youth Band in the second part of the event, performing pieces such as the Ludiciana Overture by Javier Pinto, the pasodoble El Abuelo by Miguel Villar, as well as very popular songs such as the soundtrack of Game of Thrones, which delighted the large audience that filled the municipal grounds.

This inaugural concert marked the beginning of the agenda of activities in honour of Saint Cecilia, which will conclude on Saturday 30 November. As part of the more symbolic programme, on Sunday 24 November, members of the Unió Musical d'Ondara (UMO) will celebrate the feast of Saint Cecilia with the traditional gathering of new musicians in a parade, which will start at 10:30 am, culminating in the church for the commemorative mass in honour of the patron saint of musicians, scheduled for 12:00 pm.

On Saturday 30 November there will be a midday concert in the Parc de l'Era, by the UMO Choir directed by Daniel Ventura. In the afternoon, at 19:00 pm, the Unión Musical de Ondara will put the finishing touch to the programme with a varied and suggestive concert, according to its director, José Antonio Llinares.

This event will include emotional pieces such as the pasodoble Valencia by José Serrano, dedicated to the more than two hundred Valencian victims of the DANA of last October 29. The luxury repertoire, which will mark the final point of the Santa Cecilia 2024 program, will feature renowned composers such as Joaquín Rodrigo, Emilio Cebrián, Robert Jager and Alfred Reed.
