If there has been one positive thing about the catastrophic floods that have affected the neighbouring regions of the province of Valencia, it has been the constant waves of solidarity that have emerged from the very beginning. The massive shipments of water, food and clothing in the first hours and the necessary material for cleaning afterwards have been enormous. But after almost 15 days, there is a sector of the affected population that needs to return to normality as soon as possible. We are talking about the students of these Valencian regions who, in many cases, have lost their schools due to the DANA.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment issued a circular informing about the relocation of students affected by the DANA to other educational facilities, taking into account both the availability of spaces and the requests of families and schools.
According to the circular, in some cases the relocation will be carried out within the same municipality to which the affected centre belongs, while in others facilities in nearby towns will be chosen. In these latter cases, school transport will be guaranteed if necessary.
In addition, in response to requests from some families and centres, the Regional Ministry has decided to extend the foster care arrangement until 22 November. From that date, families who wish to permanently change their school must submit the request to the School Enrolment Authority in their area. The schools that are temporarily hosting the students will be responsible for informing the families about the necessary procedures and will offer them assistance to the extent possible.
The Ministry has established that those centres in areas affected by the DANA that did not suffer damage or that have already received the go-ahead after the technical review, will resume classes on November 11. Meanwhile, those centres with minor damage, which can be repaired within a period of up to 15 days, will resume teaching activities once it is certified that they comply with the safety and hygiene standards required by the competent authorities. There is still much work to be done.
Students from Valencia relocated to the Marina Alta
According to information provided to this media outlet by the Councillor for Education of the Xàbia Town Hall, Mavi Pérez, some educational centres in the Marina Alta will be able to accommodate some of the affected pupils. Given this adversity, depending on the situation of the family affected by the floods, whether because they have been left homeless or because the centre is affected, the affected people will be able to take their children to centres in towns where they have relatives who can provide everything necessary for the pupils.
It is precisely in Xàbia where the councillor has confirmed that, at least for now, two students will be accommodated, one in secondary school and another in primary school. Pérez has assured that "the Generalitat order to relocate the students informs that it can be done on a ratio basis."
It is therefore a temporary measure, "like a foster schooling," explained the Councillor for Education of Dénia, Melani Ivars. It is in the capital of the Marina Alta where the councillor has confirmed the arrival of some families. According to her, those who contact the schools, inform them of the municipality of origin and request provisional fostering. It is not, therefore, a permanent transfer, since when normality is restored in their centres, they will return.
Fantastic initiative worthy of praise.
In the same way that someone from the local administration decides to CLEAN UP the rubbish that currently exists on our beaches in La Marina, specifically in the Albaranas area:
Accumulation of putrefied posidonia. Accumulation of reeds and tree trunks from other floods.
Stagnant waters on the shore of the beach
Bad smells all along the beach.
The beaches, our beaches, our great heritage are a showcase of a misunderstanding of environmental preservation... I invite the council to stroll along the shore of Albaranas beach and then this criticism of management is valid.
We must take care of the beaches!!!! Where the cleanliness and the smell of the sea are worthy of being contemplated with our senses and not only with the ecological and political sense.
