Ondara will once again celebrate his well-known XIII Gegant de Pedra competition next 19 Sunday of February. The Serra de Segària will be the perfect setting for another year for those competitors who decide to face it.
There will be three types of competition, two for runners and one for walkers. For their part, runners may choose between traveling 13,5 or 21 kilometers, while for those who decide to take the test walking, the route will be 13,5 kilometers.
It should be noted that the Gegant de Pedra ondarenc will be included for the fourth time in the IV Circuit Trail la Marina, made up of 13 races in 13 towns (Abdet, Forna, Xaló, Gata, Calp, Callosa d'en Sarrià, Senija, Pedreguer, Ondara , Laguar-Orba, Benialí, Pego and Confrides). This edition of the Circuit began in September 2022 and will end in May 2023.
All the inscriptions for the XIII Gegant de Pedra They can be done online or in person at the Allianz de Ondara insurance office (Avenida Doctor Flèming, 36). The registration fee is 18 euros to run 21 km and 12 euros to walk or run 13,5 km. The numbers can be collected at Decathlon Ondara during its opening hours, from 10:00 am to 21:00 pm, on Saturday, February 18. They can also be picked up at the starting line on Sunday from 07:30.
The start of the competition will be at 08:30 am for the runners who do 21 kilometers with a drop of 1185 m and at 09:00 am for the runners who do 13,5 kilometers with a drop of 600m. The rest of the participants will start walking at 09:05 with a drop of 600 m.
The start and finish line will be in the Parc Municipal de Segària. The participants will go through the entire Serra de Segària, passing through the municipalities of Ondara, Beniarbeig, Benimeli, Ràfol d'Almúnia and El Verger.
The XIII Gegant de Pedra is organized by the Club d'Atletisme d'Ondara and the Ondara City Council, with the collaboration of Civil Protection, Local Police, the Ondara Excursionist Center and the Benimeli, Beniarbeig, Ràfol d'Almúnia and The Verger. The test has been presented at the Ondara City Council by the Councilor for Sports, Mar Chesa, the president of the Club d'Atletisme d'Ondara, Miguel Moreno, and the members of the Club, Pep Giner, Mª José Català and Juan Ginestar. Chesa wanted to thank the Club for organizing the sporting event and all the collaborators for their contribution to making the event a reality.
From the organization it has been reported that this year 2023, after being unrestricted by COVID, the toast will be recovered at the end of the race, with bacon sandwiches, sausages and the like and cocas for participants who do not eat meat.
