The archaeological project of the Medieval Town of Ifach, through the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), the Provincial Council and the Calp City Council, has shared the video of the reconstruction of the Madonna Santa María de Ifach church. Signed by 3D Stoa, the video includes the reconstruction of the fortification that constituted the religious building of the 2022th century. A job that they have focused on this past XNUMX to be able to present it today.
Medieval town of Ifach
The archaeological research of the Ifach project is aimed at documenting the archaeological remains of a medieval conquest town on the slope of the Peñón de Ifach. According to the Universitat d'Alacant, "the project investigates the remains of a newly founded Christian town that was built at the end of the 1359th century under the command of Roger de Llúria, Admiral of the Crown of Aragon. The town was partially destroyed in the year 1400 in the midst of the Castilian-Aragonese conflict and abandoned around the year XNUMX.
La Pobla de Ifach de Calp has an area of 70.000 m2 and is located on the northern slope of the Rock. Its walled enclosure presents more than 800 linear meters of wall. The area in the best condition is the northern area with eleven towers, of which the best preserved is the bell tower.
The project is directed by José Luis Menéndez Fueyo and has a great team of researchers and volunteers who renew their participation in the project every year.
