Around 23:30 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, August 13, the Verger Local Police, in collaboration with three members of the Regional Fire Department of Dénia, carried out a rescue in the Serra de Segària. A hiker had suffered a fall of about 10 meters in a steep area that was difficult to access while trying to take the circular route to the mountains, according to information provided by the Local Police.
The Verger Local Police were the first to act, locating the exact point where the injured person was. Subsequently, the three firefighters ascended the mountain, guided by the precise instructions the Police were able to provide given their high degree of knowledge of the terrain. Apparently, the hiker had lost his way along the marked path, becoming disoriented in the middle of the night and after the first rains of the current meteorological episode had begun.
Thanks to the effective and coordinated intervention, the person was able to be located and successfully removed. She had bruises as a result of the fall, in addition to being disoriented and dehydrated. The rescue ended around 01:30 a.m.
