Next Sunday, February 2, starting at 9:00 a.m., the 1st Ondara School Duathlon will take place (in cycling and athletics), with its epicenter in the Bullring of Ondara. This sporting event, organised by the Ondara Town Council's Sports Department and the Ondara Tri-Esport club, in collaboration with the Valencian Community Triathlon Federation (TRICV), is part of the 2025 Valencian Community Sports Games (JECV). It is a unique federated event in the region, in which school-aged boys and girls (federated) from all over the province of Alicante will participate. The event is also open to all boys and girls from Ondara (between 6 and 17 years old) who can participate for free by registering on the form provided.
The 1st Ondara School Duathlon is the 1st event counting towards the Alicante Provincial Ranking, and is aimed at children and young people in categories ranging from multi-sport to youth (between 6 and 17 years old). This sporting event was presented today at Ondara Town Hall by the Councillor for Sports, Jordi Ruiz; the representatives of the Ondara Tri-Esport club, Mónica Jorro and Vicent Ginestar; the Ondara Sports technician, Ana Ribes; the Head of Local Police, Toni Galiano, and the Officer, Desiré Torres.
The school duathlon is an excellent opportunity for young athletes from different school categories to enjoy a morning of sport, fun and camaraderie in a safe and healthy environment. Participants will combine two disciplines: running and cycling, demonstrating their skills and effort in a competitive and festive atmosphere. The duathlon is a multi-sport event in which a running segment, a cycling segment and then a running segment are chained together, with no time interruption between the start and the finish. The running races will take place in the streets of the town centre, and the cycling races along Avenida Doctor Fleming, while the pits will be located inside the Bullring.
Distances and circuits are accessible to all audiences. Registration is free for those registered in Ondara and to complete it you only have to fill in this form before 29/01/2025.
