Bimbo's plant in El Verger already has a buyer

18 December 2024 - 16: 24

The Graine International group and the Bimbo group announced on Wednesday the signing of a purchase agreement for the plant located in El Verger. This agreement includes a development plan within the framework of the international growth and expansion project in which Graine is immersed.

Graine International is a family-owned company founded in 1925, with an international presence and a workforce of over 800 employees. Its activities cover sectors such as flour manufacturing, animal feed, mining products, poultry farms and slaughterhouses.

With this project in El Verger, Graine seeks to position itself as a benchmark in the Spanish bakery and pastry market. According to À Punt, the plan includes a significant investment and a commitment to create 120 initial jobs, integrating all Bimbo employees who wish to do so and whose profiles present synergies with the project. In addition, the creation of 260 direct jobs is expected within a period of five years.

The Bimbo factory in El Verger closed its doors permanently last March, after negotiations between the Works Council and the major brand, to ensure that the layoffs of the hundred workers were as dignified as possible.

Following the agreements reached between workers and the company, the multinational agreed to hire a relocation company for those people who became unemployed. Thanks to the agreement reached by the Company Committee, if the El Verger warehouse had a future with another company, the unemployed workers would have preference as employees with a "blind CV", as detailed.
