Els Poblets has launched its popular Valencian pilota tournament known as “Graneres i Recogedors”. The club has expressed its satisfaction with the reception of the sport in the town, as the number of participants grows every year. Almost 50 people have signed up and make up 14 teams in the competition.
Last Sunday, February 2, the first four games of the tournament took place, which had to be moved to the trinquet court at the Verger sports center due to rain. The matches and results were as follows:
- Perles, Javier and Corbí vs. Well, Lobo and Vicent (10-25)
- Angel, Araque and Ruben vs. Alejandro, Athor and Garry (25-15)
- Joan C., Joel and David vs. Montilles (0-25)
- Famorca, Carpi and Vicent vs. Jose, Gabriel and Maki (0-25)
The Els Poblets Pilota Club has expressed its gratitude to the players involved for the growing interest in this competition. In addition, this year the tournament has launched new equipment, sponsored by El Baret del Xus and Assegurances Montilla Roig, who have provided shirts and shorts, respectively.
The tournament will continue next Sunday, February 9, when the regional raspall league will also start. In this competition, Els Poblets will have a second-category team that will face the team from Ondara after playing two games in the local tournament.
