Agents of the Civil Guard and the Calp Local Police The Municipal Police have recently carried out a comprehensive police operation against illegal street vending and counterfeit products on the Levante and Poniente beaches of the municipality. The action, which is part of a preventative and deterrent campaign, will continue throughout the spring and summer of 2025.
More than 25 officers, both uniformed and plainclothes, from various units participated in the operation. The Civil Guard was joined by officers from the Main Post and the PAFIF (Tax and Border Patrol), a unit specializing in tax and border control. The Local Police also included officers from the UTAI and USCCALP units, in addition to aerial support provided by a drone from the Aerial Media Unit (UMAC).
As a result of the raid, five vehicles used as mobile warehouses were seized, as well as a large quantity of counterfeit products: 180 leather goods, 212 T-shirts, 38 swimsuits, 12 caps, and 291 pairs of sneakers. All this material could have an estimated market value of €15.000. The identified sellers were also reported to the competent authorities.
Calp City Councilor for Citizen Security, Guillermo Sendra Guardiola, praised the operation and highlighted the coordination between the police forces: "The fact that both forces are working together and combining efforts and resources translates into increased safety for Calp residents and visitors."
The municipal ordinance prohibits both the sale and purchase of products within the framework of illegal street vending. In this regard, the council reiterates its commitment not only to strict enforcement of the regulations, but also to raising public awareness about the risks and implications of participating in this type of illicit trade.
