We are in the middle of the heat wave, the hottest period of the year, which occurs from July 15 to August 15, when phenomena such as the current heat wave are most likely to occur. The alerts from the State Meteorological Agency are already reaching the Marina Alta, despite the records reached on Wednesday and Thursday, so stifling hours are expected in the region for this Friday and, above all, Saturday.
Today, the AEMET maintains the yellow alert for maximum temperatures of 36 °C, which in full sun will be higher and with a suffocating thermal sensation. But it will be on Saturday when the situation will become even more complicated, with an orange risk due to temperatures that will reach 41 °C in the shade.
On the other hand, the Generalitat's extreme temperature surveillance system, which alerts about health risk levels, focuses on the municipalities of the region that are in the intermediate and interior zone, in addition to Dénia. Xàbia, Benitatxell, Teulada Moraira, Benissa and Calp would be excluded from the worst records with risk to the health of citizens.
