The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), through the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), has awarded Blue Flag distinctions to the best beaches and ports in 52 countries. In 2025, Spain once again leads the world ranking in terms of the number of Blue Flags awarded.

The Alicante coast continues to stand out as one of the most recognized in the country, with the Marina Alta as one of its main attractions. This year, the region renews 16 Blue Flag distinctions for its beaches and 7 for its marinas. one is added great novelty, which arrives from Dénia, adding a new award-winning beach: Punta Negra, which will receive its Blue Flag for the first time in 2025.

With this incorporation, the coastline of Dénia It now boasts seven Blue Flags on its beaches: Les Deveses, Les Bovetes, Les Marines, Marineta Cassiana, Molins, Punta del Raset, and Punta Negra. It has also been renewed at the Marina Dénia and Real Club Náutico Dénia marinas.

Blue Flag in the Valencian Community

According to the Generalitat Valenciana (Generalitat Valenciana) regarding the awards, the Valencian Community has reaffirmed its position as the national leader in the Blue Flag program, obtaining a total of 164 awards recognizing excellence on beaches, marinas, and tourist boats.

The Regional Minister for the Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, expressed his satisfaction with this new achievement, which represents five more flags than in 2024. "It's a source of pride to achieve five more distinctions than last year, continuing with 19 marinas and new blue centers, such as the one in Xilxes," he stated.

Martínez Mus also emphasized the value of this recognition as a boost to "sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism," expressing "great satisfaction and a desire to continue working to improve our tourism offering from an environmental perspective, consolidating the Valencian Community as a benchmark in sustainability and quality."

Of the total awards, 143 were given to beaches, 19 to marinas, and 2 to tourist boats. By province, Alicante leads the list with 89 distinctions, followed by Valencia with 39 and Castellón with 36, maintaining Alicante's position as the most awarded province in Spain.

Among this year's new awards, six beaches in the region have been awarded the Blue Flag for the first time: Fuente de los Baños (Montanejos), El Bol (Altea), Punta Negra (Dénia), Ortigues Campo (Guardamar del Segura), Guardamar de la Safor, and Malvarrosa beach (Sagunto).

In addition, Adeac has recognized 23 municipal environmental interpretation spaces as Blue Centers, which contribute to public education and awareness about local ecosystems. Among them, the Aula de la Mar de Xilxes stands out, having received the award for the first time this year. Alicante has 13 Blue Centers, Valencia 7, and Castellón 3.

Regarding special mentions, Adeac awarded the municipality of Torreblanca for its outstanding work in the field of environmental education, appreciating the efforts and commitment of the local authorities beyond their formal obligations.
