The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), through the Environmental and Consumer Education Association, recognizes each year the best beaches and marinas internationally with the Blue Flag distinction. This 2023, the best beaches in the Marina Alta have been 16, in addition to the 7 ports, distributed among the municipalities of Benissa, Calp, Dénia, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Teulada Moraira and Xàbia.

The Blue Flags are awarded based on four criteria: the information in the form of panels offered by each beach and the environmental education promoted by the municipality; bathing water quality; compliance with environmental legislation; and security and ease of access, in addition to offering a series of services for the benefit of society.

In this new edition of the recognition, the region has maintained the majority of distinctive throughout its coastal geography. However, he has also lost two of them.

One is the beach of Les Deveses in Dénia, which, in its long extension, contains a breakwater that is under construction and with which the regeneration of the punished beach has begun. It is the one that borders the Almadrava, which is being lengthened in an L-shape. Currently, work on the second breakwater is already starting from the sea. The other one that loses the Blue Flag is that of Arenal de Xàbia, due to the extension works of the submarine outfall that it houses.

Thus, Dénia revalidates the badge on the beaches of Les Bovetes, Les Marines, Marineta Cassiana, Molins, Punta del Raset and in the Marina Dénia and Real Club Náutico Dénia marinas. Xàbia does it on the Granadella and La Grava beach and at the Jávea Yacht Club.

Poble Nou de Benitatxell achieves the Blue Flag this 2023 in the Moraig cove. For its part, Benissa has it in the Baladrar coves, which achieved the distinction for the first time in 2022, and Fustera and in the Club Náutico Les Bassetes.
