The Generalitat already has awarded the drafting of the construction projects to replace the Algar and Mascarat viaducts from Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia) of the Alicante TRAM. The chosen company is the UTE Ines Ingenieros Consultores SL-Inserail SL and will have a cost 347.735 euros.

The contract specifies the performance of all previous diagnostic work of the current situation, necessary for the selection and definition of the most suitable construction solution. The result entails a multi-criteria analysis of viable alternatives, which must include factors such as functionality, profitability or the structure of the transport network, among other variables.

The drafting of these projects responds to the decision that has been made between the different administrations and public entities involved with the aim of reach a consensual alternative that guarantees the passage of trains through these two points of the network.

The studies commissioned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) have shown that the current viaducts of Algar and Mascarat, in the municipality of Altea, require periodic inspections and a continuous monitoring system, in service for months.

However, given the next incorporation for the service of this line of the new dual trains, these structures require rehabilitation, reinforcement or replacement.

These works are part of the modernization process of Line 9 carried out by the Generalitat and that They aim to maintain and improve the operating conditions of the service. Thus, the regularity and quality of the service is guaranteed with similar standards to the rest of the FGV network in Alicante.

Acceleration of works on Line 9

The Gata de Gorgos station came into service on July 11, 1915, coinciding with the commissioning of the section between Altea and Dénia of the Ferrocarril de la Marina de la Compañía de los Ferrocarriles Estratégicos y Secundarios de Alicante (ESA).

In order to carry out a rehabilitation of the historic complex of the station enclosure and improve urban integration, FGV has defined the services to be performed. These are the conditioning and comprehensive reform of the main building.
