The history workshops that were so successful in editions prior to the pandemic in Pego return to share with neighbors and onlookers the details of past times. Looking back to discover the ins and outs of other times. This is the main task of the workshops that will be held on Wednesdays from September 28 at the Casa de Cultura (Calle Sant Domenech, 5).
It is basically talks and conversations between neighbors directed by the municipal archivist, Joan Miquel Almela. This, through different old photographs and images of yesteryear, transports those present to past times, stories of the municipality that can be about well-known characters, emblematic places or, simply, customs. In short, the life of Pego.
So, on Wednesdays at 17:30 p.m. those who wish have an appointment with the past pegolí that will last approximately an hour and a half. Almela reminds that prior registration is not necessary, "you just need to come and want to know stories from our town."
The history workshops had become a classic of the Municipal Archive in the House of Culture in recent years, but the pandemic forced the cancellation of the programming. Luckily, these appointments with the past are successful, "usually more than 40 people came to each session," remarks the archivist, so their continuity was almost mandatory.
“We have always thought that to understand the current world, it is necessary to know the past. It is important to know our roots, the stories of the people and emblematic spaces of our municipality. History, the closer it is, the more you like it, we all like to know more about our town”, points out the Councilor for Culture, Laura Castellà.
