The Civil Guard, within the framework of its plan to combat home burglaries, arrested four young men as the alleged perpetrators of several burglaries committed in a residential area of independent residences in the municipality of Calp.

The investigation, called "Operation Rabenka", was launched by the Investigation Department of the Main Post of Calp after a series of robberies recorded on 6 and 8 January, some of which coincided with the feast of the Three Wise Men. The criminals accessed the houses by forcing doors and windows open with screwdrivers and similar tools, stealing cash, valuables and, in one of the cases, even consuming alcoholic beverages and food in the living room of one of the houses.

In the first phase of the investigation, members of the Calp Company identified one of the main suspects during a check on a road in the municipality. They found 180 pounds sterling in cash and other objects whose origin could not be proven. Later, it was confirmed that the pounds came from one of the robberies committed in a villa in the development.

After intensifying their investigations, the officers managed to link the suspects to at least four burglaries in homes and one theft from a vehicle parked on a plot of land, all of them in the same residential area.

On 8 January, the Guardia Civil received a call about an attempted robbery at another villa in Calp. Several units went to the scene and arrested three of the perpetrators as they tried to flee. Among them was the main target of the operation, who was found to be in possession of a large screwdriver used to force entry into the properties, 195 euros in cash and a knife. The following day, a fourth suspect was arrested.

In a second phase of the operation, it was discovered that part of the stolen money had been exchanged at a currency exchange establishment in Calp by a 21-year-old man, who was investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of receiving stolen goods.

The four detainees, accused of four crimes of burglary and one crime of theft, were brought before the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Denia. The judge ordered the imprisonment of the main perpetrator, a 25-year-old man with numerous previous convictions for theft and robbery, who allegedly obtained a loot of more than 6.000 euros. The other three detainees were released on bail.

The main perpetrator is also charged with a robbery committed in an ice cream parlour on 31 December and a crime of damaging the interior of a residential building in the early hours of 25 December.

The Civil Guard, although it has solved the crimes, continues to investigate to determine whether this criminal group could be linked to other robberies in the area.
