The Generalitat has put out to tender the construction of the new Mascarat and Algar viaducts on Line 9 of the TRAM d'Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia), which bring together an initial budget of more than 17 million euros, VAT included. This action, like the rest carried out on Line 9, is financed by the European Union and will serve to complete the modernization of Line 9 of the Alicante TRAM.

The works in the Mascarat, with an initial item of 7.902.406,59 euros, VAT included, and an execution period of nine months, will mean replacing the current viaduct with a more modern one suitable for the TRAM d'Alacant network. of similar characteristics.

As for the Algar, with a bidding investment of 9.211.482,34 euros, VAT included, and a period of fourteen months for execution, the layout variant and the construction of a bridge parallel to the existing one are planned, in such a way that the current Algar viaduct is maintained as a pedestrian walkway, as established in the listing of Assets of Local Relevance.

Works on the Quisi viaduct

On the other hand, the works of the new Quisi viaduct, also financed with European funds, continue on schedule, once the works began in August 2022. The works, awarded for 9.857.534 euros to the UTE FCC Construcción SA-CHM Obras e Infraestructuras SA, is expected to be completed in the summer of this year and will allow the installation of a new viaduct close to the current one, also located over the Barranco del Quisi, downstream of the existing one, with an oblique alignment with respect to the previous one and a length of 370 meters.

The current Quisi viaduct was built between 1913 and 1915, as part of the line that connects Alicante and Dénia. The rehabilitation works carried out by FGV in this section have allowed it to remain open to the circulation of the current diesel trains.

However, it has been necessary to consider the construction of a newly built variant as a fundamental part of the modernization plan for this line.

The investments executed and planned between Benidorm and Dénia include the renewal of the track, adaptation of viaducts, bridges and embankments, improvements in rolling stock and the improvement of security, communications and energy facilities.
