Last Friday, October 14, the Valencian Pilota Federation held the Pilota Gala in which it presented the annual prizes corresponding to the 2021-2022 season. The City Council of Pedreguer was one of the winners of the 'Municipal Sports Promotion' award, for being the headquarters of one of the province's modernization schools, for hosting days of the Sports Games or, among others, for the organization of women's raspall elite games.
The mayor of Pedreguer, Sergi Ferrús Peris, was in charge of collecting the award from the president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón.
The Pilota Federation held a large pilota gala in which it brought together nearly 400 people in the Plaça Major hall of the Huerto de Santa María del Puig. A gala in which the most outstanding athletes and entities of the 2021-2022 season were awarded, and who have been distinguished for their merits in the different categories.
Among them, special recognition was made in the sporting career of Carlos Solaz Pradas, a former professional player who died last August. In addition to the City Council of Pedreguer, the municipalities of Eliana, Tavernes Blanques and Xert were also awarded for the promotion of the pilota.
The pilota school of Gata de Gorgos received the 'Paco Cabanes el Genovés' promotion award, as did the Borriol pilota club, while the prizes for the best players went to Irene Badía, Iván Esparza, Diego López, Victoria Díez, Tonet Ordiñana and Francec Xavier Puchol. In addition, the Trinidad Alonso Foundation and Aproop! Telecom.
